Kimberley was born on the beautiful island of Roatan, located in the Caribbean Sea and home to the second largest coral reef in the world. Growing up on a island she learned to appreciate and respect nature and the fragile ecology. Her greatest achievement has been completing high school with honours and regularly making the Dean’s list, she is currently studying business management at the University of Honduras. Her ambition is to open her own import/export seafood company. Hobbies include: beach volleyball, reading books and dancing to Caribbean and modern music.
Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I grew up in Roatan, Bay Island, Honduras. My city is located on the Caribbean Sea-side of Honduras. My family is involved in the fishing marketing industry. My entire family is very close-knit.
What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
I’ve completed various community service projects in my hometown. I’ve worked educating adults how to read and write. And today, as the Miss Honduras representative, I able to help these people even more.
What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
My career ambitions are to one day run my own import / export seafood company. Being born and raised on the Island of Roatan, I’ve been exposed to this industry and have enjoyed learning the ins and outs of the importing/exporting aspects in this market. I am planning on realising this dream once I graduate from the University of Honduras with a degree in Business.
What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
There have been various proud moments in my life, but I do remember doing my First Communion as being a great feeling to me. During that moment I understood my direct communication with the Lord.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
The funniest / most embarrassing moment of my life has to be the first time I ever spoke in front of a huge audience. Nonetheless, now that I’ve gone through that experience, speaking in front of thousands of people is something that I’ve learned to enjoy and always look forward to doing it.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
Winning the national title has changed my life in a very positive way. Becoming Miss Honduras has turned me into a very secure and self-confident woman.
Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
I’ve met the President of my country. That was a very memorable experience, because when we met, I made him aware of the necessities our country is going through and that our previous presidents have forgot us.
What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
If I became Miss World 2004, I would be the voice of the people in need. My purpose would be to help and be of guidance to people in need, especially young people. Motivating them to study and get prepared for the hard moments coming ahead.
If you had a personal motto what would it be?
If I had a personal motto, it would be: "God helps those who help themselves", because it gives us the wisdom and we as human beings have to know how to employ it for the benefit of mankind and oneself.
Give details of any charitable work undertaken?
In my community I have taught many adults to read and write. In Honduras there is a high percentage of illiterate people.
