Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I live and grew up in a small town in Iceland called Selfoss, with population around 5000 so almost everyone knows everyone. Sometimes the gossip gets out of hand. In Selfoss we have almost everything we need, if it’s not available there is just a 40-minute drive to Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. In the summertime the town is very beautiful with lots of trees and flowers in various colours. I still live with my mum and my older sister, my other sister lives with my dad, but soon I’ll be moving in to an apartment. It is located near the town’s church and the beautiful river Olfusa that runs through the town.

What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
My first job was the same as everybody’ else in my town, that is keeping the town clean, planting trees and flowers all over the town, after that I worked one summer in a small fishing village packing lobsters. I also worked in some shops. At fourteen I started working in a hair salon, definitely the most interesting job I have had. I still work there and I believe hairstyling will be my future occupation.

What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
I plan to finish my current studies this year and than I’ll take a master degree in hairstyling, that will take another year. When I have my degree I plan to continue working at the same salon that I work at now. After that I would like to go abroad maybe Italy or Spain and try living and working there as a hairstylist or with something that has to do with fashion and of course learn the languages.

What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
I feel proud whenever I succeed in projects that I am given.

What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
Once I went with my uncle to a party with his friends, whom I did not know, and walked into a glass door that I didn’t know was closed.

What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
I feel more secure on stage and in front of many people. I’m talking to the media more than I ever did. I have gained awareness of the people around me because of all the gossip that is going on, my body is in much better shape because I go to the gym a lot and I am learning more and more about human relations.

Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
I’ll never forget the earthquake in June 2000. I was brushing my teeth when it started and I ran outside, everything was shaking. Nobody was injured in that quake but some buildings were badly damaged. It measured over 5 points on the Richter scale.

What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
I like what Miss World has been doing for these last years, raising money for charities and I would be proud to help people less fortunate than me.

If you had a personal motto what would it be?
To do your very best in everything you do.
