Where did you grow up? Tell us a little about your home town/city, and family.
I was born and live in Ostrow Wielkopolski, a small city with a population of around 80 thousand located in the southern part of Wielkopolska. Historically, the city dates back to the Middle Ages, however, it didn’t really develop until later. From a small farming village Ostrow Wielkopolski grew to be one of the larger cities in the region, becoming a centre of culture, industry, as well as dominant transportation hub. Industrial expansion goes hand in hand with cultural development. Ostrow is a place where people can realise their goals. It has character and charm that we cannot be ashamed of. Ostrow Wielkopolski is a significant cultural centre for the southern part of Wielkopolska. The town has much to offer on a regional, national and international scale. It’s cosy, inviting streets; the town square and buildings built a hundreds years ago are enough to awaken hidden artistic ambitions in anyone. It is the beauty and the atmosphere that together pose this creative challenge. Ostrow Wielkopolski is a place where music stands first among the arts. This musical scene is composed by a variety of festivals and concerts. The most important, The International "Chopin in the Shades of Autumn" Festival takes place in the Hunting Palace of the Radziwil Royalty in Antonin. There is also jazz at the Museum, "The Chantarelle Festival" a meeting with antique music, and many more such events. Our city also has one of the most active artistic communities in addition to a rich network of cultural institutes. We the people of Ostrow, wish everyone to chance to fall in love with our town, only then will the words of Wojciecj Bak "about the quiet grey city" gain meaning. I love my city for it’s beautiful and because, within it, I feel secure. I am proud of the fact that I was born and live here.
What Jobs have you done? What was the most interesting/bizarre?
In Poland, people my age rarely begin working so soon. If they decide to work and have the opportunity, it is usually seasonal work. Less than three years ago, I was offered a job as a model. I decided to take the job for the adventure and to this day I don’t really treat modelling as a career, but more as a hobby. The most interesting characteristic of modelling is the chance to meet and work with many people. I became a part of a team and learned to listen to people as well as to express opinions of my own.
What are your career ambitions, how do you plan to realise them?
For many years now I have been directing my professional career towards television. I would like to become a newscaster, later, perhaps a producer. For this reason, I enrolled in the School of Humanities and Journalism with a major in foreign cultures. The education I receive at my school will help me learn the secrets of journalism, open new horizons, and allow me to gain the knowledge necessary to succeed in this field.
What is the proudest moment of your life? (Not including winning your National Title)
Without question, the proudest moment of my life was the completion of my secondary school final exams and enrolment in the college of my choice. This moment is so important to me, because I achieved these things solely through hard work and by believing in myself. For this reason, I learned to work towards my goals and to fulfil my dreams.
What was the funniest/most embarrassing moment of your life?
Each one of us has many amusing stories to tell. Nevertheless, I would like to tell of something that happened to me quite recently. Maybe it is not the funniest story, but it is very enjoyable and will always make me smile. Not even a month after I won the Miss Polonia contest, I received a congratulatory postcard from a fan. This was very pleasant, since it was the first such card I had received. However, this man did not know my address. And so, on the envelope he wrote my name the town I live in, and simply wrote "Miss Polonia 2004". I was amazed by the fact that the card got to me. It was a very pleasant surprise indeed.
How has your life changed since winning your National Title?
Since winning the Miss Polonia contest, there have been only a few changes in my life. I have become a public figure and now take part in all kinds of balls, events, and meetings. My life has gained "momentum". I spend a lot of time away from home. I have met a variety of interesting people and I now understand that my life has changed forever.
Tell us about an interesting event you have attended, or a person that you have met.
Three years ago, while on vacation I met a girl who is a year younger than I. She had cancer. After an hour’s conversation with her, my outlook on life changed. This young girl showed me that you have to make the best of every moment of your life. That we should derive happiness event from the little things and be thankful for what we have. From that moment, my hierarchy of values altered. One meeting with this girl changed my entire life and I realized that nothing material is as important as family, love, friendship and health.
What would you like to do, if you became Miss World 2004?
If I was to become Miss World, I would most like to completely fulfil any and all the responsibilities required of a Miss World winner. I realise that this title opens many doors. I would truly like to open these doors and through this, to have a hand in changing many lives. The lives of those who have not been as fortunate as I, those who are sick, poor as well as those who are unemployed. I am happy that any one of the contestants will be able to help and bring smiles to the faces of others.
If you had a personal motto what would it be?
Treat people, as you would want to be treated by them yourself. This motto reminds us that often we treat people in a way that we would not appreciate to be treated ourselves. I feel that if people lived up to this motto. Our lives would consist of much less hatred, anger and war.
Give details of any charitable work undertaken?
Prior to winning the Miss Polonia contest, I didn’t have the opportunity to take part in organising any charitable functions. Yet, I’ve never unsympathetically just passed by such a function. I have always eagerly supported all such events. Here I would like to mention one of the largest charitable functions in Poland. Organised during the holiday season, this event collects money for polish hospitals. During this time in our country, and now often even outside our borders, nobody passes this collection by indifferently. Everyone gives as much as they can.
