Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner won the Transgender Champion award at Glamour's 2015 Women of the Year Awards.
The 66-year-old, who was known as Bruce before her transition, won the award in a ceremony on Monday and her speech was a tribute to her family for standing by her, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"I'm so blessed I have family. Not one has abandoned me they've been supportive of me, it's been great,` she said at the ceremony.
`When it comes to gender, everyone in this room is on a journey. We are constantly learning, growing as human beings, learning about ourselves. But there's a segment of this population that when it comes to gender, there is mass confusion deep down inside,` she added.
Caitlyn shared how she explained her transition to her children, saying: "I sat each one of them down and said to them this is my story this is who I am - what can I do.
"I sat down with my pastor, talked to him, about my issues. And yes, I had a lot of conversations with God. And I came to the conclusion that you know what, maybe this is why god put me on this earth. To tell my story. To be authentic to myself about who I am and in doing that, maybe you can make a difference in the world."
