Antoine Fuqua's remake of The Magnificent Seven (1960) is all about great shooting, gun spinning and cowboys. Renowned sharp shooter, Thell Reed has worked behind the scenes as the armorer and gun coach for this movie.
Before the cameras rolled, the cast of the movie received weapon training from Thell Reed, who is not only known to add something special to every film he's involved in, but has also trained best actors from Russell Crowe to Brad Pitt.
`He is an old cowboy and a quick draw professional. He taught Steve McQueen to shoot back in the old days and he was on set and he is about 70 years old and it would be 104 degrees heat and he was an amazing presence to have on set `says Ethan Hawke.
Denzel agreed with him and added `He would always tell me `smooth is fast.` You know, I have fast hands and I've been boxing for years. I'm just fast but he was always telling me `slow down! Slow down!` (laughs) Thell is the man. He's worked with John Wayne. You know, he's the man. He's the truth...`
