She is the queen of talk shows. As she receives the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 75th Golden Globe Awards, here are five facts you probably don't know about her.
1. Oprah became the first African American woman who made it to the Forbes list of billionaires.
2. Winfrey was fired from her first job as an anchor. She was working as a co-anchor on Baltimore's WJZ-TV, after she completed her course in speech communications at Tennessee State University. After 7 months into the job, she was asked to leave as the show producer found her `unfit for television news`. Can you believe that?
3. Her name was supposed to be Orpah, after the biblical figure. However, due to some glitch at the birth registry, her name became Oprah.
4. Briefly dated movie critic Roger Ebert in the 1980s.
5. The only way to Winfrey Mansion is by gondola. The $14 million mansion owned by the celebrity is located in an area of Telluride called Mountain Village. One must take a 10-minute gondola ride to get there.
