In a recent episode of ' History of Horror', Eli Roth conversed with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino for about two hours. The conversation pertained to the history of horror cinema and took an interesting turn when Eli asked of what Tarantino thought of the IT reboot which was released in 2017. Tarantino said he thought the reboot was "just only OK.", going as far as accusing IT author of blatant plagiarism.
Tarantino, who by his own admission steals from every movie ever made, went on saying that Stephan King's clown-monster Pennywise is a rip-off of Freddy Krueger, a murderous monster immortalized in Wes Craven's 'A Nightmare on the Elm Street'. Andi Muschietti, the director of IT reboot has also knowledged parallels between Freddy and Pennywise and has placed references to Wes Craven's classic throughout his movie.
Stephan King is well aware of accusations, and in his defense maintains the book was in the writing process long before the movie. Tarantino has never read the King's book, so one might wonder how much weight Tarantino's theory makes. Regardless, we loved IT and eagerly await the arrival of IT: Chapter 2 starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, James Ransone, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean, Jay Ryan. This Andi Muschietti directed sequel sees the return of 'The Loser' after 27 years to their hometown of Derry, Ohio to once again combat Pennywise the clown. The movie opens on September 6 this year.
