Known for his work in the horror-film genre such as 'Absentia' (2011), 'Oculus' (2013), Hush (2016), Gerald's Game (2017), Mike Flanagan brought us 'The Haunting of Hill House', based on Shirley Jackson novels. It was a profound, character-driven horror anthology series that drained us both physically and mentally.
Flanagan is teaming up with Netflix once again to transform us into the traumas of a different family. Flanagan brings to you 'The Haunting of Bly Manor' which is based on novelist Henry James' astounding psychological-horror work 'The Turn of the Screw'. It is said to be an "unbelievably scary story", serving as the second season in what's becoming a 'Mike Flanagan Literary Horror Adaptations Cinematic Universe'.
While that name alone sounds scary, Flanagan talks about providing more scares with using Henry James' work as a starting point to expand on what he loved about the first season. However, he doesn't seem to be bound by a certain framework and looks forward to giving us goosebumps once again.
Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Victoria Pedretti, who played siblings Luke and Eleanor Crain in the first season will be playing different characters in the upcoming season. It also happens to be the only locked cast for the second season.
'The Haunting of the Hill' deals with the estranged Crain siblings reuniting after a familial tragedy, as they still deal with their mother's mysterious death. It stars Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Cohen-Jackson, and Victoria Pedretti, and is available on Netflix to stream.
