Joss Whedon, the rightful God of geekdom, will return to his stomping grounds (i.e, television) with a fantasy series 'The Nevers' on HBO'.
Whedon, who last worked on Justice League reshoots returns to television. The 'AGENTS OF SHIELD' creator's latest offering is a science fiction drama about "The Touched", a gang of Victorian Era women. However, these women aren't your run-of-the-mill subservient but are endowed with superhuman abilities which will put themselves at odds with the society.
On the casting front, we have Laura Donnely (Outlander) as Amalia True, leading the charge of these band of heroines. Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) is Declan Orrun, low-level crime and aid to Amalia with motives of his own. Denis O' Hare (True Blood)will play a brilliant but diabolical surgeon, Dr. Edmund Hague. 'Rushmore' fame Olivia Williams will play Lavinia Bidlow, a patroness running the orphanage where Amalia and the rest of "The Touched" resides.
The show has recently added Kiran Sonia Siwar as Harriet Kaur, a young Sikh orphan who finds acceptance in her new family. Elizabeth Berrington( In Bruges), Ella Smith (Ray & Liz), Viola Prettejohn (Counterpart), and Anna Devlin ( All The Money in the World) have been cast as Lucy, Desiree, Myrtle, and Primrose respectively; other members of "The Touched". Martyn Ford (Kingsmen: The Golden Circle) will be playing a recurring character named Odium, a henchman after money and nothing else.
Currently in post-production "The Never" will be aired on HBO, looking to fill in the void left by the departure of its flagship series 'Game of Thrones'.
