After his Emmy-winning turn as the twin brothers Ray and Emmit Stussy, Ewan McGregor will be bringing his talents to Disney's new streaming service platform.
The 'Trainspotting' star has played the legendary Jedi Master 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' in George Lucas' 'Star Wars' prequels ' The Phantom Menace', 'Attack of the Clones' and 'Revenge of the Sith'. He will continue to play the role in the Star Wars for the Disney.
This is the third Star Wars adaptation to come to Disney, as it already has Jon Favreau's 'The Mandolorian' based on the character of Boba Fett and an untitled spin-off featuring Cassion Andor (played by Diego Luna) and the droid K-2SO in the works. The 'Obi-Wan' series is happening, while there's no word on plot details or other castings. While still in talks, one can't deny that the addition of someone like Ewan McGregor will bring in a plethora of viewers, both Star Wars and non-Star Wars fans.
Ewan McGregor has appeared as Christopher Robin in Marc Forster's 'Christopher Robin', so it might be possible that he's willing to partner up with Disney once again. He's also appearing as an adult Danny Torrance in Mike Flanagan's 'Doctor Sleep' and notorious Black Mask in Cathy Yan's 'Birds of Prey', both films currently in the post-production phase.
