The 'Clerks' filmmaker will be bringing the all-powerful character of 'He-Man' in an animated rendition with a partnership from Netflix. At Power-Con, Kevin Smith revealed that he will be serving as the showrunner and the executive producer of the upcoming animated series 'Masters of the Universe: Revelation'.

The series will bring into focus some of the previously unresolved storylines of the 1980's series. The original story was about the adventures of Prince Adam, heir to the planet Eternia, who transforms into the warrior 'He-Man' using a magical Power Sword.
"The war for Eternia begins again! Superstar director Kevin Smith continues the original series' story right where it left off in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a new series telling the epic tale of what may be He-Man and Skeletor's final battle," was Netflix's official tweet. The poster is an annotation of a darker approach to the source material, which will feature well in the hands of Kevin Smith who is himself a comic-book aficionado.

Smith is beyond himself and stoked at this opportunity, saying, "I'm Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe,"
"In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! This is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!"
While no other major plot information has landed in our sights, Kevin has (jokingly) remarked that the series will not feature some of his raunchy humor. Smith will be bringing along a team comprised of fellow podcast partner Marc Bernardin, Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, and Diya Mishra.
While it may be a while you get to see 'He-Man', Kevin Smith will return to cinemas with his 'Jay and Silent Bob Reboot' on which he recently wrapped production and will release on October 15 theatrically.
