The beautifully weird Yorgos Lanthimos, the man behind `The Lobster` (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer` (2017), and the last year`s Oscar-nominated `The Favorite` already has another project in his sight.
The Greek auteur will be working on a `twisted crime drama` seething with political manipulations. He will be adapting the Jim Thompson novel `Pop. 1280` for the entertainment company `Element Company` in their fourth collaboration together.

Said to be a personal favorite, Pop. 1280 is about Nick Correy, a listless police sheriff who is secretly a psychopath and holds a the vicious ability to bring out the worst in people. Correy is a a character with a slimy sense of humor and insatiable hunger of power, something right in the Yorgos Lanthimos wheelhouse.
Currently, he premiered his short film ` Nimic` starring Matt Dillion (The House That Jack Built) at the Locarno Film Festival which ran from 7 to 17th August. This 12-minute short is about an encounter a professional cellist has on the subway and how its aftermath affects his life.
