Dysfunctional families and failing marriages is a beaten-down trope, but Noah Baumbach brings his signature style to it and gives us something to rejoice.
After `The Meyerowitz Stories` , he has partnered up with Netflix again, this time bringing the story of a young couple`s divorce with `Marriage Story`. In a surprising and rather sweet gesture, Baumbach`s latest movie provides 2 brief companion teases, bringing you both sides of a crumbling marriage
The first teaser has the voice-over from Charlie (Adam Driver) giving us a list of things he loves about his wife Nicole (Scarlett Johansson). He adores her infectious personality and her capabilities as a parent. The second teaser is in the voice of Nicole who goes on to list what she loves about Charlie, including his vulnerability and his love for parenting.

Both of them eventually sit down to acknowledge what`s amiss in their marriage, with Charlie saying `I don`t know how to start`. Both teasers end on the same scene, in the courthouse where we learn of their divorce; working like a gut punch to our senses.
Inspired by his divorce, `Marriage Story` is written and directed by Noah Baumbach revolving around a stage director and his actor wife struggle through a gruelling, coast-to-coast divorce that pushes them to their personal and creative extremes.
`Marriage Story` stars Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, Laura Dern, Merrit Wever, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, Azhy Robertson, Mark O`Brien, and Mickey Sumner. Before its Fall premiere for Netflix, it will be screened at the Centerpiece selection at the New York Film Festival on October 4, 2019.
