Nope, this is certainly not a simulation. The Wachowski are bringing the fourth installment to 'The Matrix' movies. Not only this, the original cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss will be reprising their roles of ass-kicking action heroes Neo and Trinity.
Lana Wachowski made a statement saying `Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,` `I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.`
'The Matrix Trilogy' is by far the highlight of their career. In their post- Matrix career, they've gone to make 'Speed Racer' (2008), 'Cloud Atlas' (2012), and Jupiter Ascending (2015). These films while made money were critical duds and hence it is only natural for the Wachowskis to go back to their original child of labor. Recently, they created the series 'Sense8 for Netflix which ended its run after two great seasons.
A fouth Matrix film has always been in talks with Michael B Jordan attached to the project at one point, but its good to see the old gang getting together. The timing of this announcement is perfect, as This year marks the 20th anniversary of the popular sci-fi action film franchise. The script is co-written by Wachowski alongside the sci-fi novelists Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.
'The Matrix' written and directed by The Wachowskis is about a computer programmer Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) who is lead into an underground resistance against the powerful machines, as he soon comes to understand that his identity has been constructed with a a system called 'The Matrix'.
The film is expected to begin production in 2020 and as of now, there's no release date.
