It seems like things are shaking up at Disney as many films have been given a new release date, including the live-action adaptation of 'Cruella'.
Cruella de Vil, the antagonist in the '101 Dalmations' and '102 Dalmations' is getting her spin-off movie. Animation fans remember her as an evil woman who kidnaps the Dalmation puppies for fur-coat.
'Cruella' was to be directed by Craig Gillespie ( I, Tonya). It is to be written by Aline Brosh McKenna ( The Devil Wears Prada) with Andrew Gunn producing for Disney Pictures. Emma Stone will be taking on the role of Cruella de Vil, previously played by Glenn Close. The movie also stars Emma Thompson , Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry, and Adam Basil.
The film was to be released on December 23, 2020, but has been bumped to a May 28, 2021 release date. 'Cruella' isn't the only movie to have this experience. Joe Wright's thriller 'The Woman in the Window' starring Amy Adams has also been moved to May 15, 2020, from its initial October 4, 2019 release.
Among other release-date changes are David Prior's 'Empty Man' and Jonathan Butterel's 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie'.
