James Wan has said that 'Mortal Kombat' is a project he won't rush into. And given by his choice of casting, we believe him. Yesterday, New Line Cinema has confirmed that actors Chin Han and Hiroyuki Sanada have been added to the cast.
Chin Han, better known to the mainstream audience as Lau, the corrupt accountant in Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight' (2008) will play Shang Tsung. Meanwhile, Sanada (John Wick 3, 47 Ronin) will be playing the vengeful wraith Scorpion. They have joined the other cast members Joe Taslim (Sub Zero), Ludi Lin (Liu Kang), Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade), Josh Lawson (Kano), Tadanobu Asano (Raiden), Mehcad Brooks (Jackson `Jax` Bridges), Sisi Stringer (Mileena), and Lewis Tan (yet unknown role).
'Mortal Kombat' is a screen adaptation of the popular video game, where the world's best fighters are pitted against each other. It will be directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Greg Russo, with James Wan producing.
'Mortal Kombat' will have a theatrical release on March 5, 2021.
