After receiving affirmative praise at the `Telluride Film Festival`, Netflix released the trailer for `The Two Popes`. Directed by Fernando Meirelles (City of God), the film seems like a surprisingly delightful take on the subject of Catholic Church.
The trailer begins with Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins) playing a soulful tune on the piano. He then converses with Pope Francis (Jonathan Pryce) about the Beatles, but is unable to recognize `Eleanor Rigby`, mistaking it for a person.
The trailer then delves into more serious matters as we learn that Pope Benedict is slightly skeptical of Pope Francis, even finding an issue with his shoes. Francis is himself stubborn in his beliefs and claims that the church has lost its way, in need of a new direction. In spite of being like chalk and cheese, it is the fate of the Church where they try to find common ground.
