'Saturday Night Fever' star John Travolta isn't what he used to be. It's not a personal opinion, but a fact that gains strength when Box-office numbers are read. It seems like the slump that started with last year's massive flop 'Gotti' will continue for a while.
Travolta's latest stalker drama 'The Fanatic' directed by Fred Durst is being torn to pieces by the critics. It currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 17%, with a slightly better IMDB rating of 6.2. The business numbers haven't been great either, as it only collected $3,153 last Friday from 52 cinemas, with the weekend tally still being counted. This is the worst opening to any John Travolta movie ever.
John Travolta's last Box-Office success was the Adam Shankman directed musical drama 'Hairspray' (2007). Travolta played the role of Edna Turnblad, mother to Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky). Apart from 'Gotti', which made only a $6.1 million against its $10 million budget, his other major flops include 'In The Valley of Violence' (2016) and 'Killing Season'(2013).
