Irish actor Pierce Brosnan is undoubtedly the most recognizable James Bond of our generation. He has starred as Ian Fleming's iconic spy in 'GoldenEye' (1995), 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997), 'The World is Not Enough' (1999), and 'Die Another Day' (2002), and believes it is about time that the role should be played by a woman.
The actor, currently at Deauville Film Festival, has said, "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting,` he said.
The upcoming Bond movie, titled 'No Time To Die' is said to Daniel Craig's last outing as James Bond and it is rumored that the mantle of the super spy shall be passed on to 'Captain Marvel' breakout Lashana Lynch. Brosnan recognizes the fact that passing the baton under the current producers Broccolis may not be easy, but coming for him this is a huge endorsement.
Currently filming, 'No Time To Die' is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga with 'Fleabag' creator Phoebe-Waller-Bridge taking a go at a screenplay written by Scott Z. Burns and Fukunaga himself.
