Mindy Kaling's upcoming project 'Never Have I Ever' could potentially be Netflix's next big thing. As if Mindy's storytelling sensibilities weren't enough, you might tune in for the involvement of a little known athlete named John McEnroe.
The legendary tennis player, known for both his hard-hitting serves and temper will be lending his voice in the narratorial capacity for Mindy Kaling's upcoming series. McEnroe spoke about his casting on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' this week, noting that Kaling's parents were "big tennis fans. They used to watch me play way back when."
'Never Have I Ever' is a half-hour comedy-of-age comedy starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and is based on Mindy's experiences growing up. Recently, Kaling wrote 'Late Night' starring Emma Thompson as a fading talk-show host which Amazon bought for $13 million. Kaling also created the 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' for Hulu and is also developing a wedding-themed comedy with Priyanka Chopra.
'Never Have I Ever' is a 10 episodes series and will premiere in 2020.
