Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks) has officially joined 'Dark Universe'. The director is said to write, produce and direct a 'Dark Army' movie for Universal Pictures based on a completely original story idea.
So far no details have been made available, except for the fact that it is going to be something like Leigh Wennell's reworking of 'The Invisible Man' starring Elizabeth Moss and Oliver-Jackson Cohen. 'The Invisible Man' will release theatrically next year on February 28.
After the failure of 'The Mummy' (2017) Universal's attempt to create a 'Dark Universe' - a franchise based on their classic movie monsters took a hit. Soon, changes were made and instead of tying in one movie with another, the focus was placed on individual stories taking the center stage.
Feig will produce the movie along Laura Fischer for Universal. Feig recently directed 'A Simple Favour' with Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and Henry Golding and upcoming Christmas rom-com 'Last Christmas' with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding.
