Netflix has managed to sign another major filmmaker to their ranks. 2-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Alexander Payne who is looking forward to moving from the failure of his ambitious sci-fi satire 'Downsizing' will be making a film for Netflix, and it will star Mads Mikkelsen of 'Hannibal' fame in a main role.

The film is being described as as a father/daughter story that follows a journalist (Mikkelsen) on a road trip with his teen daughter across the U.S. while working on a story. If it is one thing cinephiles know it is his affinity for road-trip movies, be it 'Sideway'(2004) or 'Nebraska' (2014)

Netflix will ship this yet untitled Alexander Payne project next year sometime around the awards season. The project has taken precedence over Payne's other project 'The Menu' another satire aimed at the culinary world which stars Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes.

The filming process is expected to start next month.
