After `Wonderstruck`, Todd Haynes is returning to the silver screen with a real life drama `Dark Waters.` The movie stars Mark Ruffalo as Robert Bilott, a corporate defense attorney turned environment lawyer, who exposed corporate wrongdoings against the public.
Robert Billiot (Mark Ruffalo) reluctantly takes on the case of a family friend. As his investigation grows deeper, he finds out how his employers have been knowingly poisoning millions of people.
He soon uncovers the connection between a string of mysterious deaths and chemical company Du Pont, and fights to reveal the truth to the public. The class-action suit brought by Bilott against DuPont resulted in a payout of over $600 million in 2017.
