Dean DeBlois, better known to the movie-going audiences as the writer-director of 'How To Train Your Dragon' franchise has landed another gag. The Canadian filmmaker will be handling the live-action adaptation of Hasbro toy series 'Micronauts' for Paramount Pictures.
Dean DuBlois will write and direct for Paramount after J.J. Abrams' and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's long-standing efforts to bring this group of robots on screen failed. Micronauts were action figures from the 1970s which were later made into a storyline for comics.
Set in a 'Mcroverse' these comics told the stories of a small group of eclectic characters - a pilot awoken from a centuries-long deep sleep, alien gladiators, survivors of the coup who band together to form a resistance against a power-mad dictator named Baron Karza who has killed the royal family and taken control.
Paramount has set a June 4, 2021, release date for the movie.
