HBO is building up an impressive star cast for their upcoming limited-series "Mare of Easttown."Jean Smart and Julianne Nicholson have joined the cast for this Kate Winslett lead drama in which she also serves as an executive producer.

Kate Winslett plays Mare Sheehan, whose life is crumbling around her as she investigates a murder. Nicholson will Lori Ross, Mare's best friend since childhood. She knows how mercurial Mare can be but loves and accepts her as she is. Smart will play Mare's mother, Helen. Stubborn, opinionated and a devout Catholic, Helen never holds back on her opinions, whether they're solicited or not.

Julianne Nicholson and Jean Smart have joined the cast comprising of Angourie Rice, Evan Peters, Cailee Spaeny, and David Denman. Creator Brad Ingelsby will be writing every episode and will serve as showrunner. Gavin O'Connor is set to direct the series, with executive produce with Kate Winslet, Gordon Gray, Paul Lee, and Mark Roybal serving as executive producers for the project.
