Martin Scorsese has made a statement about Marvel movies which has not gone well with a certain fandom. The "Taxi Driver" filmmaker has sent the fans in delirium by revealing that he is not a fan of Marvel movies and doesn't think they belong in the high brow of cinema.
In an interview with "Empire" magazine, Scorsese has claimed that Marvel movies are "not cinema." He also said, "Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn't the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being. "
Scorsese's statement comes as a surprise, as Marvel movies are universally loved by the people. Also, one wonders what he thinks of Todd Philips' "Joker" which drawn heavily on Scorsese's iconic filmography. Irrespective of what Scorsese thinks, Marvel has the 4th phase of movies lined up just for entertainment.
Scorsese's latest directorial, "The Irishman" will get a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on November 1. More screen will be added in both the United States and the United Kingdom on November 8, before finally becoming available to stream on Netflix on November 27.
