Phew! Who can forget the battle scene towards the end of the Avengers: Endgame? All of the squad members were given their moments, but the one that still lives with us was the all-female team up to stop the invasion of Thanos. And we might not have to wait to see that awesome moment once again. During Variety's "Power of Women" cover shoot, Brie Larson, Captain Marvell herself has confirmed that she along with the rest of the female members of the MCU have had many conversations with Marvel president Kevin Feige to make an all-female movie a tangible reality.
`I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, 'We are in this together, we want to do this,'` Larson explained. `What that means, I have no idea. You know, I'm not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we're really passionate about and we love and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it'll happen.`
While any word on the all-female ensemble remains to be heard, Marvel has started to plant its feet with female standalone movies like "Captain Marvel" and the upcoming "Black Widow" movie with Scarlett Johanson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour. Directed by Cate Shortland, it is scheduled for a theatrical release date of May 1, 2020.
