Kerry Washington has joined Ryan Murphy's version of "The Prom." She has joined the likes of Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden, Awkwafina, Ariana Grande, Keegan-Michael Key and Andrew Rannells for Murphy's 2020 movie for streaming giant Netflix.

"The Prom" is about the experiences of an Indiana lesbian teenager who wants to bring her girlfriend to her school's big dance. Instead, they're banned from attending as a couple, prompting a cast of Broadway eccentrics to descend on the teens' small-town home to help fight the injustice.

Murphy's film adaptation is based on the musical based on Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin's book, from an original concept by Jack Viertel. This movie will be the part of his million-dollar lucrative deal with Netflix, already made "The Politician" which is available on Netflix to stream.
