After bringing "Lion King" and "Aladdin" to screen, Disney is mining more of their properties for the live-action adaptation. Next in line is "Pinocchio."
"Pinocchio" is the story of an old wood-carver named Geppetto who carves a wooden puppet named Pinocchio. The puppet is brought to life by a blue fairy, who informs him that he can become a real boy if he proves himself to be "brave, truthful, and unselfish".
Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis (Forest Gump, Back to the Future) is being attached to the project. This decision was made after " Paddington" director Paul King exited due to personal reasons. Zemeckis' last feature film was "Welcome to Marwen" starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Diane Kruger, Merritt Wever, Janelle Monae, Eiza Gonzalez, Gwendoline Christie, and Leslie Zemeckis.
The movie follows the true story of Mark Hogancamp, a man struggling with PTSD who, after being physically assaulted, creates a fictional village to deal with his trauma.
