"Narcos" and "Game of Thrones" actor Pedro Pascal is all set to play the antagonist in the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel "Wonder Woman 1984." Pascal has been attached to the project but the nature of his role was known until Patty Jenkins' official tweet.

The "Monster" filmmaker posted a comic-book image of Maxwell Lord with the caption "Well hello...Max #@WW1984" and then tagged Pedro Pascal in the image. In the comics, Maxwell is a character who possesses telekinetic powers. Pascal will also be seen in the upcoming Disney + Star Wars series "The Mandolorian" in the titular role.

"Wonder Woman 1984" is co-written by Geoff Johns, Patty Jenkins, Dave Callahan and directed by Patty Jenkins. The sequel will find Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) facing a formidable foe named Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). The movie will also star Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen.

"Wonder Woman 1984" has a release date of June 5, 2020.
