At this point, the reboot fatigue has started to set in. But the trailer for the fourth movie of "The Grudge" franchise looks genuinely well done! This first trailer boasts of well-executed jump-scares and tremendous acting and filmmaking talent involved.
"The Grudge" is centered on a single mother and young detective, Muldoon (Andrea Riseborough), who discovers that a suburban house is cursed by a vengeful ghost that dooms those who enter it with a violent death. Now, she runs to save herself and her son from demonic spirits from the cursed house in her neighborhood.
Based on 2002 Japanese horror film Ju-On: The Grudge, "The Grudge" is written and directed by Nicolas Pesce (Eyes of My Mother, Piercing) and produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise. The movie stars Andrea Riseborough, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, Jackie Weaver, and Demian Bichir in pivotal roles.
The movie has a theatrical release of January 3, 2020.
