Lin-Manuel Miranda, who danced his way into the hearts of the people with "Hamilton" is changing lanes. Miranda is trading his dancing shoes and rapping skills for the director's chair for his first movie directing gig. In partnership with Netflix, he will bring the off-Broadaway play "Tick, Tick ... Boom!" on the screen.
Not only he has a strong backer, but Miranda has also grabbed A-list acting talents of none other than Andrew Garfield himself! Garfield will play Jonathan Larson, a composer living in Soho who worries about growing older and his lack of career achievement. Larson went on to write "Rent" for which he won 3 Tony Awards posthumously and the esteemed Pulitzer Prize.
"Tick, Tick ... Boom!" is being written by Steven Levenson, with Miranda directing. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will produce along with Julie-Oh and Lin-Manuel Miranda himself. Julie Larson, Levenson and Celia Costas have come on board as executive producers.
