Algee Smith, known to the audience as Chris McKay from HBO's "Euphoria" will be seen in Ryan Coogler's next project. He has joined Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield for the drama based on the life of Black Panther activist Fred Hampton.
The movie will follow the follows the rise and demise of Hampton as seen through the eyes of William O'Neal, a criminal who cut a deal with the FBI to infiltrate the Panthers. O'Neal helped create rifts within the organization, keeping tabs on Hampton and, when the time came, drugged the 21-year old activist on the night of the raid, which ultimately saw officers gun him down.
With Ryan Coogler attached as a producer, Shaka King will direct the script he co-wrote with Will Berson. The Euphoria and Detroit actor will Smith Hampton's friend fellow Black Panthers member. Daniel Kaluuya will play Hampton and Stanfield will play O'Neal. Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, and Ashton Sanders will also co-star.
