Marvel has officially announced a third "Ant-Man" movie. Director Peyton Reed, who directed the first two movies has been brought back for the third one. This has come as surprise as another "Ant-Man" movie was not on the slate of upcoming slate of MCU movies, but with Paul Rudd's size-zero superhero making a splash has paved a way for another movie.
"Ant-Man 3" is expected to start shooting at the end of next year for a 2022 release. No additional details have been released about the plot or additional casting news. This movie will also be Paul Rudd's fifth time donning the super suit, having done it in two `Ant-Man` films, `Captain America: Civil War` and `Avengers: Endgame.`
"Ant-Man 2" saw Scott Lang aka Ant-Man going on the run with the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Micheal Douglas) and facing a seemingly unreadable antagonist Ghost (Hannah-John-Camen). This movie also opened the concept of "Quantum Realm" which came into play later in "Avengers: Endgame" and could also be a plot point in the upcoming addition to the franchise.
