D'Arcy Carden and Abby Jacobson are in negotiations to star in the pilot for "A League Of Their Own" series. Jacobson is developing the comedy-series along with Will Graham for Amazon based on Penny Marshall's 1992 movie. However, the series will omit the inclusion of sisters Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller, played by Geena Davis and Lori Petty, respectively, in the film.
Amazon's take on the series is going to be a contemporary one surrounding the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The show will begin with the formation of the league in 1943 and follows the Rockford Peaches season to season as they struggle to keep the team alive through close games, injuries, late-night bar crawls, sexual awakenings, not crying and road trips across a rapidly changing United States. The series dives deeper into the issues facing the country while following a ragtag team of women figuring themselves out while fighting to realize their dreams of playing professional baseball.
Written by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel based on the stories of Kelly Candale and Kim Wilson and directed by Penny Marshall, "A League Of Their Own" was released in 1992. It was the story of sisters Dottie and Kit (Geena Davis and Lori Petty) are drafted into a professional baseball league along with several other women. However, things take a turn when Jimmy(Tom Hanks), an alcoholic and a former star, is forced to manage them.
