The 1970s cult series "Kung Fu" is getting a reboot. The prolific producer Greg Berlanti has brought Christina M. Kim, Martin Gero , the creative team behind the "Blindspot" for NBC Network. The reboot series will make an Asian American woman the protagonist , who drops out of college following a quarter-life crisis and goes on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China.
When she returns to find her hometown overrun with crime and corruption, she uses her martial arts skills and Shaolin virtues to protect the community and bring criminals to justice all while searching for the the assassin who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now targeting her.
The original "Kung Fu" series was the story of a Shaolin monk and martial-arts expert Caine who flee China after his master is killed. Now he wanders the Old West of America, defending the helpless and beating down bad guys with his skills, all while trying to find his half-brother and evade Chinese bounty hunters.
