Disney's live-action adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" has found its Prince Eric in Jonah Hauer-King. King is a 24-year-old English actor whose film credits include "Ashes in the Snow" and "A Dog's Way Home" and has starred in "Howard's End" and "Little Women" on television. Currently, he plays Harry Chase on the television series "World on Fire".
Halle Bailey will portray Ariel, a mermaid princess who dreams of being a human, while Melissa McCarthy is playing her evil aunt Ursula. Javier Bardem will play King Triton, while Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, and Daveed Diggs will be voicing Flounder, Scuttle and Sebastian the crab respectively. The Little Mermaid" is the story of Ursula, the sea witch, who makes a devious deal with princess Ariel for her to meet Eric, the human prince she loves. Unaware of her intentions and carried away in love, Ariel lands up in major trouble.
Rob Marshall will direct the live-action adaptation from David Magee's script. The upcoming film will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as new tunes from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by `Hamilton` creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is also producing the film along with Marshall.
