Sherlock Holmes has been an all-time favourite for crime fiction lovers for years and now, the detective is returning to 221B Baker Street once again. The British crime fiction series is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works. The fans get a reason to rejoice as Sherlock season 5 is hitting BBC and Netflix. Sure, we have to wait a while before the season is out but for now, we have a confirmation.

All the seasons used to end on a cliffhanger, which made everyone wait eagerly for a new season. But the fourth season ended on a happy note, which was why viewers believed there wouldn't be another one. It is highly probable that the next chapter will have characters and stories from the original works, which obviously implies an addition of new cast members.

Since the director had said that he wouldn't make a season without the original cast, we know for sure that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will reprise their roles of Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson. Another season wasn't planned oiginally, which implies that everything will be started from scratch. Actors Cumberbatch and Freeman are busy with their respective schedules and cannot start shooting till next year. So the new season probably wouldn't be out till 2022 or 2023. Regardless, the loyal audience and crime fiction lovers wait patiently for the super-intuitive detective unravel convoluted plots and mysteries with his best friend and reliable sidekick, Watson.
