After playing popular roles like Eve Polastri in the BBC America spy thriller series 'Killing Eve' and Cristina Yang on the ABC medical drama series 'Grey's Anatomy', Sandra Oh became a household name. And now, she has another treat for her fans as she is collaborating with Amanda Peet and 'Game of Thrones' co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Netflix has announced 'The Chair', a six-episode "dramedy" executive produced by the pair as well as show star Sandra Oh, writer (and Benioff's wife) Amanda Peet, and Bernie Caulfield. The half-hour episodes will revolve around the chair of an English department at a large University. Jay Duplass will also be joining the cast who really gives off the "professor you have a crush on" vibe.
Golden Globe Award-winning actress Sandra Oh and Jay Duplass were confirmed by Netflix for the series at this time but more information will be announced when the show goes into production later this year. Writer, showrunner and executive producer Amanda Peet presented her husband, David Benioff, with his first project under Netflix.
It is now clear why the GoT duo made the leap from HBO to Netflix. It is believed to be a multi-hundred-million-dollar deal and 'The Chair' will mark their first title to get off the ground since they signed a development pact with Netflix.
Sandra Oh's 'Killing Eve' is coming back for a third season in April and the show has already been renewed for a Season 4. BBC America confirmed that 'Sex Education' writer, Laura Neal, will be the lead writer for the show's next season. The series stars Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, and Kim Bodina. Jay Duplass will be seen in Apple TV's 'The Morning Show' as Chip Black, and that series also features Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, and Steve Carell. Stay tuned for further news.
