As Marvel fans eagerly await the release of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, writer/director James Gunn has teased his idea for a Drax and Mantis standalone flick. Although there are no solid plans in place, the director has said the spin-off 'hasn't been ruled out'.

Considering the Guardians films are widely regarded as some of the higher ranking movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) thanks to their cosmic creativity and balanced humour, we have a feeling this would do well with the fanbase.

The idea for the film came to light when Dave Bautista - who plays former intergalactic criminal and Guardians member Drax - was asked whether he'd reprise his role for a Disney+ series. Although he's not up for a Drax-based TV show - understandably, the make-up 'would be really rough' - he is interested in a team-up movie alongside the empathic cosmic crew member Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

"What I would like to do is honestly, and this is not my idea, I'm stealing this idea, but James Gunn had the idea to do a Drax/Mantis movie," he told Collider.
