Woody Harrelson will be joining Kevin Hart in the action-comedy 'The Man From Toronto' after Jason Statham recently left the project.
Statham was in negotiations to star opposite Hart, but abruptly backed out a week ago over creative differences, and Sony scrambled to find a new actor. Harrelson's casting makes sense due to his long-standing relationship with the studio. Harrelson has recently wrapped his role as the villain Carnage in 'Venom 2' opposite Tom Hardy and is the star of Sony's 'Zombieland' series.
'The Man From Toronto' is a mistaken identity caper about a New York city screw-up named Teddy (Kevin Hart), who winds up sharing an Airbnb with a deadly assassin known as the 'Man From Toronto' (Woody Harrelson) and is mistaken for him. Chaos soon follows as the assassin's world comes crashing down on Teddy's. The film has absolutely nothing to do with the 1933 romantic comedy of the same name, which is about a Canadian man and a British woman who, according to a peculiar will, stand to inherit a million dollars if they wed.
'The Hitman's Bodyguard' Director Patrick Hughes will helm 'The Man From Toronto', which is written by Robbie Fox based on a story by Fox and Jason Blumenthal. Escape Artists' Oscar Nominee Todd black, Blumenthal and Oscar winner Steve Tisch are producing. Bill Bannerman is executive producing. Sony has scheduled the film to open on November 20, just in time for American Thanksgiving.
