The actress starred in five movies with Khan, including 2009's Billu and Bajirao Mastani in 2015. And following news of his passing, Priyanka took to her Twitter page to pay her respects to the late actor, sharing a picture of herself and Khan together as she wrote: `The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic. Your talent forged the way for so many in so many avenues.. You inspired so many of us. #IrrfanKhan you will truly be missed. Condolences to the family.`
In addition to his Bollywood film roles, which made him one of the biggest stars in the industry, Khan appeared in numerous American movies, such as Jurassic World in 2015.
And director Trevorrow, who helmed that movie, was also among those paying tribute to Khan, tweeting: `Deeply sad to have lost Irrfan Khan. A thoughtful man who found beauty in the world around him, even in pain. In our last correspondence, he asked me to remember 'the wonderful aspects of our existence' in the darkest of days.`
Ava DuVernay was among the other directors remembering Khan, sharing a black and white snap of him on her Twitter page and writing: `A grateful fan of #IrrfanKhan here. Gone too soon. When he is on screen, you can't take your eyes off of him. He lives on in his films.`
Indian director Shoojit Sircar appeared to reference Khan's health struggles over the years as he tweeted: `My dear friend Irfaan, you fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.`
Mahesh Babu, Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Nimrat Kaur, and Kamal Haasan were among the Bollywood stars to remember Khan in emotional posts, while India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter: `Irrfan Khan's demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre.
