Created by Álex Pina, Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel, is one one Netflix's most impressive success stories. When this action drama about robbing the Royal Mint premiered on the Spanish network Antena 3, it didn't look like it would be around long.
Despite great opening numbers, interest in the series slowly started to disappear and the creators and cast were sure their heist-loving baby was sure to be canceled. That's when Netflix swooped in to save the day. After releasing the series' first season as the edited Parts 1 and 2, the streaming giant renewed the show for another season with a proper budget for an international thriller. It's been a whirlwind of fan excitement ever since.
Ending the series at Part 5 is bleak news for sure. But it's not entirely unexpected. After following these criminals as they robbed the Royal Mint of Spain, later seasons of the show chronicled them robbing the Bank of Spain. It's hard to best yourself after you've successfully robbed a major international bank. Also with each crazy plot this team gets away with, the believability of this series suffers a bit.
