The Lie is directed by Veena Sud, who directed Enos in an episode of The Killing and is also behind Quibi thriller series The Stranger. It's a bit of a delayed release after having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, but that may have nothing to do with the film's quality. It's a nicely crafted trailer, showcasing a solid cast and a potentially engrossing plot. Fingers crossed it's a good one.
"The Lie is written and directed by Veena Sud, and stars Mireille Enos (The Killing), Peter Sarsgaard (An Education) and Joey King (The Kissing Booth 2, The Act). When their teenaged daughter confesses to impulsively killing her best friend, two desperate parents attempt to cover up the horrific crime, leading them into a complicated web of lies and deception. Produced by Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Christopher Tricarico, and Jason Blum. Executive produced by Howard Green, Kim Hodgert, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Aaron Barnett."
The Lie, also starring Cas Anvar, Devery Jacobs and Nicholas Lea, begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on October 6th.
