The Witches trailer and poster for Warner Bros' remake confirms the Bob Zemeckis movie will be released on HBO Max just in time for Halloween. The movie is a re-imagining of the classic Roald Dahl tale that has terrified generations of children.
It was originally made as a movie by the late Nicolas Roeg in 1990, starring Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch and Rowan Atkinson as the hotel manager Mr. Stringer. The movie also terrorized a generation of children, particularly when the witches reveal their true faces.
This remake has been tackled by legendary adventure director Zemeckis (Back To The Future Part II, Part III and Forrest Gump), who has moved the setting from England to 1967 Alabama. The Boy here is played by Jahzir Kadeem Bruno, with Chris Rock narrating the movie as an adult.
Oscar winner Octavia Spencer plays his grandmother, while Stanley Tucci hams it up as hotel manager Mr. Stringer. Anne Hathaway takes over the role of the Grand High Witch from Huston, perfectly cast as the villainous leader of the witches who turns the Boy and his friends into mice in order to exterminate them.
