Series creator Darren Star opened up about some of the hate that he's received from French critics and viewers about the show, especially due to some of the cliches shown throughout the first season.
"The show is a love letter to Paris through the eyes of this American girl who has never been there," he said. "The first thing she is seeing is the cliches because it's from her point of view. I'm not sorry for looking at Paris through a glamorous lens. It's a beautiful city, and I wanted to do a show that celebrated that part of Paris."
The show hasn't been renewed for a second season just yet, but this gives us a hint of what fans can expect with the tone of the show and its characters as Emily continues to live and work in Paris.
Lucas Bravo, who stars in Emily in Paris as her love interest Gabriel, also opened up about the show's criticism saying that he agreed with them to some extent. Here's hoping that we'll get more time in the City of Lights to see more of what it has to offer.
