Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Fatale, the steamy psychological thriller directed by Deon Taylor and starring Oscar winner Hilary Swank and Michael Ealy. It is set for a December 18 theatrical release after the studio nabbed.
The pic had been set for a July release originally but was moved to October 30 because of coronavirus restrictions at movie theaters. The distributor said in October that the title would be moved into 2021, but now it has settled on a December 18 release in theaters. That makes it one of the few fresh features to stick with a cinema bow with the exhibition biz in flux.
In Fatale, David Loughery's script centers on Derrick (Ealy), a successful sports agent who watches his perfect life slowly disappear when he discovers his wild one-night stand was with a determined police detective (Swank) who entangles him in her latest investigation. As he tries to put the pieces together, he falls deeper into her trap, risking his family, his career and even his life. Mike Colter and Tyrin Turner also star.
Roxanne Avent Taylor, Deon Taylor and Swank are producers.
Taylor was behind the summer 2019 hit The Intruder, which grossed $37 million worldwide off an $8M net cost before P&A. He and Lionsgate previously teamed on 2018's Traffik which Taylor wrote and directed.
