"It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning from colon cancer," reads a statement on Desselle-Reid's Instagram account. "She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife."
The statement added that Desselle-Reid's "diverse career touched so many and she will be loved forever."
Desselle-Reid is best known for playing Mickey opposite Berry's Nisi in "B.A.P.S.," a comedy that follows a pair of aspiring female entrepreneurs' unlikely journey to opening a joint soul food restaurant and hair salon in Los Angeles. They soon live the lives of "Black American Princesses" after caring for a Beverly Hills millionaire.
Desselle-Reid starred as Eve's friend Janie Egins over a three-season span on the UPN sitcom `Eve` from 2003-2006. Her other acting credits include the films "How to Be a Player" (1997), "Madea's Big Happy Family" (2011) and the TV show "Built to Last" (1997).
