Celebrating Army Day with Pride
Taking to Instagram, Varun shared two powerful images, one of which showed him posing alongside soldiers near a tank. The actor captioned the post, “Honoring the real heroes of India this #ArmyDay. Proud to be with them. #Border2 #prep.”
Army Day is an annual event commemorating the historic transition of leadership in the Indian Army. On January 15, 1949, Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa, who later became Field Marshal, took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Roy Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. The day is marked with parades and military displays in New Delhi and at various army headquarters across the country.
Border 2: A Sequel to an Iconic Film
Varun Dhawan will next appear in Border 2, alongside Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahaan Shetty. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is a sequel to the 1997 classic Border, helmed by J.P. Dutta. The original movie, based on the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, is considered one of Indian cinema’s most iconic war dramas.
The cast of the original Border included Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Raakhee, and others, with its gripping narrative and powerful performances leaving an indelible mark on audiences.
A Grand Production with a Historic Legacy
Border 2 promises to live up to the legacy of its predecessor. Backed by a formidable production team comprising Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film is presented by Gulshan Kumar & T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. The sequel is set to offer a grand cinematic experience, blending intense storytelling with stellar performances.
Based on the 1999 Kargil War
While the original Border focused on the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, Border 2 appears to be inspired by the 1999 Kargil War. This conflict arose when Pakistani forces crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and occupied strategic positions in the Kargil district, leading to a fierce military confrontation.
With its compelling subject matter and an ensemble cast, Border 2 is poised to be a cinematic tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India’s armed forces. Fans eagerly await this sequel, which promises to deliver both action-packed sequences and heartfelt moments of patriotism.
Varun Dhawan’s tribute to soldiers on Army Day sets the tone for what is expected to be a moving and inspiring portrayal in Border 2, celebrating the valor and dedication of India’s real-life heroes.
