CCTV Footage and Latest Developments
This marks the fourth visual of the suspect since the attack inside 'Satguru Sharan,' the 12-story Bandra apartment where Khan resides with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their sons, Taimur and Jeh. The intruder was seen twice on CCTV inside the building—first while taking the stairs to reach Khan’s floor and later while fleeing the scene.
Later that day, the suspect was seen at Bandra railway station wearing a new blue shirt. He was wearing the same attire when captured on CCTV at a mobile store in Dadar.
Saif Ali Khan’s Injuries and Recovery
During the confrontation, Khan sustained six injuries, including one near his spine, while attempting to fend off the attacker. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where surgery successfully stabilized him. In an update, doctors confirmed that Khan is recovering well and has regained the ability to walk.
Suspect’s Description and Police Investigation
A nurse, Eliyama Philips, who was caring for Khan’s younger son Jeh, was the first to notice and confront the intruder inside the home. She described him as a dark-complexioned, slim-built man in his late thirties, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall.
Police suspect the attacker scaled the wall of an adjacent compound and used a fire shaft to gain access to Khan’s floor. Authorities believe he fled the same way.
Search Intensifies as Suspect Remains at Large
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the police have gathered several key clues and are confident they will apprehend the suspect soon. A man resembling the attacker was detained yesterday, leading to speculation that the case had been solved. However, police later clarified that he was not connected to the attack on Saif Ali Khan.
The Mumbai Police have expanded their search efforts, increasing the number of investigation teams to 30. Officers are interrogating individuals loitering in the area at night and those with prior police records. At least 15 individuals were taken in for questioning yesterday.
Fallout and Law-and-Order Concerns
The attack has sparked a political debate, with opposition parties raising concerns over the law-and-order situation in Mumbai. Addressing these concerns, Chief Minister Fadnavis asserted that it would be incorrect to label Mumbai as unsafe, emphasizing the ongoing police efforts to bring the attacker to justice.
As the search intensifies, authorities are determined to track down and arrest the suspect, ensuring justice for Saif Ali Khan and his family.
